St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, welcomes the following students as members of the class of 2016.
Each first-year student will participate in St. Lawrence University's innovative First-Year Program, an introduction to the liberal arts curriculum taught in residence halls by faculty teams. Clear writing and speaking skills are stressed, and careful advising is provided for all students.

Local Students Study In Ireland With St. Lawrence University
Several local students studied in Ireland this summer, as participants in St. Lawrence University's Summerterm program there.
Participants in the program took two courses, Nationalism, Peace, and Conflict; and Literature, Popular Memory and Place. The courses included time spent in Dublin, Galway City, Connemara and the Aran Islands, as well as Belfast and Derry in Northern Ireland.

Area Students Graduate from The State University of New York at Potsdam
The State University of New York at Potsdam awarded more than 920 undergraduate and graduate degrees during its 2012 Commencement ceremonies on May 19 and 20. SUNY Potsdam honored upwards of 750 students with bachelor's degrees, while another 170 graduate students earned their master's at the College's Commencement weekend.

SUNY Canton students were recently recognized for their outstanding academic accomplishments for the Fall 2011 semester.
